The Great Pumpkin
msnbc had an interesting article on "Extreme Gardening" this morning. The link's at the top of this blog -- entitled "The Great Pumpkin" if you're interested. The Cliff Notes version is that this man spent at least two hours a day watering and feeding this monster pumpkin liquefied cod parts (and other fish "product") to get it to that size. It didn't even sit on the ground or get regular rain on it -- it was all controlled. Apparently the ground inhibits pumpkin growth so they put it on this mesh-type of net to rest on to support the huge size. Talk about someone needing a hobby. (Like my playing WoW for 8 hrs straight isn't one, hehehe).

They even have a pumpkin BOAT race! They hollow out their pumpkins and race across the river in them. WOW. I for one didn't know that pumpkins floated. Guess I'm a city kid.
By the way, that's not the dude that grew the pumpkin in that picture I posted. ;)

I have got some really BIG Elephant Ear plants growing in a pot in my backyard - do I qualify for Extreme Planting or is it a given that Elephant Ears are supposed to be really BIG?

Better than me, I have a black thumb. Plants come to me to die. I'm the Kevorkian of Horticulture!

p.s. MMORPGs definitly count as a hobby... else I'd have to seriously reevaluate my self esteem ;)

Agreed! I'll have to put that on my resume under "Hobbies/Personal Interests". You could think of MMORPG's as "exercises in the application of object-oriented principles." It's all learning, right? ;-)

That's what I'm talking about! I like the way this is going... All of a sudden I'm over qualified for my job and my resume looks a lot better too...

And imagine the number of HOURS you can say you worked on said "object-oriented application principles" -- at least six, eight hours a day in your SPARE time! You'd be a legend! :)
I think that's what I'm going to do tonight...WoW misses me. Time to go level up that little undead mage on Argent Dawn, hehe.

/jealousy on, it's official... I can hardly remember the last time my toons saw me, and I'm POSITIVE my guild wouldn't recognize me... At least one of us will get some gameing in. Play hard Tekchic, and nuke someone for me.

Definitely will do! I think my guild sent out some gnome trackers to find my toon 'cause I've been out so long, hehe.
At least maybe after tonight they can call off the search ;-)
