.NET Web Services

Playing with web services in C# today, picking up some useful tips, and a bunch of things I didn't know. Seems like web services in .NET are so much easier than they are in Java. Seems like everything's harder in Java, but maybe it's just me.

The gig on Friday was a bit of a let-down. I don't know if it was advertising or what but there just wasn't the crowd that we were anticipating for a grand opening. I think they're trying to do the "fancy attire" too much and it won't work in Tulsa. I wonder how many people got turned away for wearing a t-shirt. People don't exactly "run home and change" after being turned away, they just shrug their shoulders and take their wallets (and t-shirts) somewhere else. It'll be interesting to see how the club progresses over the next few weeks and whether their popularity increases or wanes to be even less than what we saw on Friday. It's a pretty nice club -- I think it just needs some more advertising.

For those of you that play World of Warcraft (or have played any MMORPG for that matter), check out this link for a pretty funny animated gif: LINK. Some days it's pretty much exactly like that in game. Those are the days that I log out.

Anyone watching Lost? I finally finished catching up on all of first season and the second season premiere. Three more episodes to go until I'm caught up. The darn show has me hooked. Partly because it's filmed in Hawaii and I know a LOT of the places that they film at, even the backstory ones that aren't on the beach are filmed in Hawaii for the most part. Partly it's the mystery that they're spinning on there. Pretty good stuff!

Chuck's $0.02 on Ultimate Fighter tonight - I'm sure Shari will have something to say tomorrow. What kind of crap is this? You have 30lbs and 2" on a guy and you don't throw any kind of combination of punches? And when you throw a kick you don't turn your hip over so you have squat for power - no wonder Rashad wasn't afraid of Mike's kicks. And then we get to the 3rd round, the only way Mike will win is by knockout or submission (and he knows he can't compete on the ground) and dude waits 25 seconds before even throwing a punch, and then tries to go to the ground again. All I can say is that I feel for the guy - he freaked out and froze. But he'd been in 12 fights before this one, he should have been more seasoned than that. Maybe it was the fact that millions would see the fight on tv that freaked him out. But whatever it was....THAT FIGHT SUCKED! GIVE ME THAT HOUR OF MY LIFE BACK!

I watch Lost. Good stuff. This season has been really wierd, I hope they really do have an answer to all the mysteries they've spun, and not just hack something together (I always felt that X-Files was doing just that -- paint themselves into a corner, then use some cheesy escape).

Speaking of best-selling DVD's, you should pick up Firefly if you haven't already. Great stuff.

Again, ok Chuck, remember who reads this blog when you make comments like "the only way Mike will win is by knockout or submission (and he knows he can't compete on the ground)" - ;P (who's your daddy!)

I am so Lost. This link dishes out some good recaps: http://www.filmfodder.com/tv/lost

Hey Melanie - did I ever tell you about the time when I was rolling with this guy who was about 40 lbs heavier than me? He tried to mount me, but I blocked it. I swept him so I ended up on top, but unfortunately because of the extra weight I pulled my groin.
