Tuesday Stuff

Hrm. Work. Another day. Whatever shall we do today? I think a rousing game of Age of Mythology followed by some time spent at Sims 2 University oughta do it. Then I'll be all set to write some code. That is until after lunch when I return "The Notebook" and rent the new "Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason" that comes out today. What better way to spend my afternoon than coding while watching said chick flick?

Heh heh.

Check out this rollercoaster.... O-M-G.

With a record-breaking height of 420-feet and record-breaking speed of 120 mph, Top Thrill Dragster delivers on its promise of thrilling riders this summer at Cedar Point. OH YEAH BABY! Anyone game enough to go on a lil road trip with me? ;-)

Aaaaaanyway, now back to your regularly scheduled gaming.

Spring Break Monday

No, not spring break for me, but with a lot of the, ahem, upper management gone for the week to various places with their kids, it will make for a productive week for me. No status reports to worry about -- instead I actually get to WRITE code! :)

Gigs were fun this weekend -- Friday night was Suede and Saturday night was at The Scene. Leaves me feeling pretty wiped out on Sunday, but all in all a decent weekend. I mean not everyone can say their second job is this fun, hehe. It was great seeing some old friends too!

Yesterday C made ostrich meatloaf for lunch -- phenomenally out-of-this-world delicious! I made us spam musubi (it's a Hawaii thing) for dinner. YUM. We also found Wasabi Peanuts at Super Target. WHOA those things are hot! You can get the "wasabi up the nose" feeling by sucking on the peanuts before chewing on 'em, LOL.

Saw the movie "The Forgotten" yesterday. Not bad... mebbe 3.5 out of 5 stars I guess. I think I'm going to pick up "The Sims 2: University" expansion pack some time this week, seeing as how I finally found my Sims 2 DVD from the move. Not that I'd be playing it at work a little bit in a window this morning or anything. Me? Naaawwwwww.

It's Friday I'm In...

For a long workday and then a gig tonight, hahaha.

Here's an update to the Steve Kitchell story: Looking At The Future Of Tulsa's Downtown Entertainment District
The downtown Tulsa entertainment district is dark in a few popular spots. The Baja Club and Studio 310 are empty.

Wednesday at 5 PM was the court ordered deadline for club owner Steve Kitchell to move out.

The News on 6's Heather Lewin says normally the area would be packed with crowds celebrating St. Patrick's Day. Now would be club goers are greeted with locked doors and no sign of a party.

Property owner Michael Sager arrived early Thursday morning to survey the situation. "The reason there's no lights is they took all the fixtures." What they found, two popular downtown nightspots, stripped bare, missing furniture, electronic equipment, even bathroom doors.

Tulsa Police were first alerted around 2 AM Thursday after reports of the Baja and Studio 310 outside doors left wide open, alarms sounding. Property owners say it's in response to the eviction of club owner Steve Kitchell[pictured] who recently declared bankruptcy after being sued for what property owners’ claim is about $150,000 in unpaid rent. "When Steve Kitchell took Studio 310 it was a 250 seat restaurant, Finales, fully equipped and today you see what you see."

Kitchell tells a different story, he says the eviction was a mutual agreement and that the restaurant furniture was moved out long ago by Sager during a remodel. As for cleaning out the clubs. “It all belonged to us."

Kitchell claims he doesn't owe thousands of dollars in rent, he says he stopped paying because it was understood he had put that money into improving the property. In fact he says Sager owes him. “We actually have a credit balance with Mr. Sager that will be taken up in district court."

Sager says Kitchell's claims are quote-"absolutely false." Both sides are still battling out the issue in court. As for the future of the property. Michael Sager: "We will seek some new tenants, do some new remodel activity. The downtown district or this particular entertainment area will prosper again."

Property owners changed the locks Thursday and secured the building. Sager says Studio 310 will probably become a restaurant with residential lofts up above. He called the whole situation positive for the area.

Kitchell says he plans to open a series of new clubs on 2nd Street.

Not sure where on 2nd Street the new clubs will be but with all the news surrounding, I bet they'll be popular.

Friday!...Friday!...Friday!...

Dynamo Hum is playing at Suede Ultralounge. Be there or be L7. One of those places you have to get there early, otherwise it's definitely a zoo with a line to get in, especially when we play out there. ;-)

Happy St. Patty's Day!

What's on tap for tonight? There's a TON to do around Tulsa on St. Patrick's Day. Might I suggest going to the Gray Snail Saloon for one of the best bands in Tulsa, The Plumbers! Also, Arnie's is a staple and a tradition in Tulsa, and they'll have quite a few events going on this evening. Brandon Clark's also playing at Fishbonz if you are on the south side this evening. I think C and I are gonna hit Kilkenny's for some shepherd's pie and then it's off to consume green beer in mass quantities (ha ha). Whatever you do (or don't do), be safe tonight and have fun! I will be! ;-)

Adios Voodoo?

Wow, this is big news: Tulsa Club Owner Could Be Evicted From Two Of His Businesses Today

The man who runs the club in question in the Scott Bolton case faces more problems this morning. Tulsa County Sheriff’s deputies plan to visit several of his clubs before the St. Patrick's Day celebrations can begin.

6 in the Morning reporter Omar Villafranca sheriff's deputies will show up to two downtown bars this morning to evict the owner. Court records show nightclub owner Steve Kitchell was served with the eviction paperwork on December 17th. He filed for bankruptcy two days later.

The landlord says Kitchell owes them more than $100,000 in rent. The News on 6 went by two of his downtown clubs early this morning. Both clubs looked empty and the doors were wide open. Kitchell has owned several bars in downtown that have changed names. Among them is Studio 310, which used to be known to customers as Studio 54. And there's the Baja Club formerly known as the Voodoo Room. The Voodoo Room is the club involved in the Scott Bolton case.

Steve Kitchell told the News on 6 back in December he was not closing any of his clubs.

It will be interesting to see what is in store for downtown in the near future. Such a shame -- the Voodoo Room was probably the best venue for live music in Tulsa in its day. The stage was AMAZING, and such a blast to have performed on.

Remember: You heard it here second. :D

Feeling Better

Shoulder's already doing a little better, I bounce back well. It's been quite the week already. Should be ok for the gigs this weekend although I won't be doing any handstands or anything (ha ha).

Here's some slick art that I thought was amusing:

Course I shouldn't talk, since I own an iPod. ALIBM. :)

And here's some fun stuff for this morning -- Gizoogle! You can either have it translate your search engine results, or have it translate an entire website. Quite amusing translating msnbc.com, heh heh.

Shoulder

Well the heavy bag got a workout last night. I got a workout last night. And a spinning back fist to the heavy bag got me a dislocated shoulder last night. It popped out and popped right back in, but I think the damage has already been done.

Going to give it a few hours before going to the d-o-c-t-o-r (I have to spell it cause I'm a wuss). Will blog more later when I get the chance. Sorry bout taking the comments off yesterday, flying monkeys were after me. They're back up and working now. :)

In other news, let's all raise our 40's in the air and wave em like we just don't care!
Study: Homeless, unemployed favor malt liquor
WASHINGTON - Malt liquor, a type of beer that is higher in alcohol than other brews, is largely a drink of the homeless and unemployed, and is likely to be abused, U.S. researchers reported Monday.

What I wanna know is who gets the money for doing these studies? Can I get in line? It's like, "Gimme 10K and I'll show you the effects of alcohol consumption by a young angry teenage boy that listens to Slipknot." Um DUH!

Hey, it's not every day I get to say I'm typing with one hand but....

I'm typing with one hand!

Power Tool Drag Racing!

Oh yeah baby! This is the epitome of oddity. Drag racing. Power tools. You can build whatever you want to race down this wooden straightaway track, as long as it's powered by a power tool. WTF?

No, there was nothing else on, I was waiting for "The Contender" and "The Ultimate Fighter" to come on Monday night. :) These people are weird. Seems like it attracts a bit of the "odd goth" crowd. They build these bizarre contraptions, and there are all different divisions, and even a "ride on" category. This one chick rode a chainsaw. Nuff said.

In other world news, they caught an alligator in Uganda that has reportedly eaten over 80 people. No word on Kirstie Alley and how many alligators she ate.

Dukes of Hazzard

Anyone out there jobhunting? Found one for you rednecks. Pays pretty well too. Click the image for the actual job posting.

Feeling better finally. Scratchy throat a little but back at work today. Yip. Having the beginning of March doldrums feeling I guess... maybe it's just stress. In any case I'm sure I'll be back to my hyper self within a few days.

Saw Uninvited Guest on Saturday. Great show, guys! Nice to see everyone again. Fishbonz was PACKED. Had Dynamo Hum band practice last Thursday with our new bass player. He fits in with the rest of us crazies pretty well. We also took new band promo pics so stay tuned for some new ones comin' up. I STILL have to buy a digicam, seeing as how certain... never mind. Not even worth the strength it takes to lift a finger to complain about it.

Oh yeah. Chuck and I finally went to go see "Million Dollar Baby." EXCELLENT flick, but definitely not what I expected. I can see why Morgan Freeman and Hilary Swank won Academy Awards for their performances. I won't say anything about the plot because I was caught by surprise and don't want to ruin it for anyone else. We also caught "Oceans 12" at the Movies 8 yesterday. Definitely not as good as the "Oceans 11" remake, but still a decent way to spend an afternoon.

And can anyone explain to me what the heck THIS is all about?

It's this HORRIBLE reality show called "Strange Love" which is about the romance of Bridgette Nielsen and Flava Flav (of Public Enemy). Um, eww. Can anyone say "We're VH-1! And we're scraping the bottom of the barrel to bring you a dumb show with washed up celebrities that you didn't even care about when they were hot!" Hee hee :)

And now back to your regularly scheduled programming.

Feh. Flu?

Dangit. Working from home today cause I feel like cr^p. Not sure what it is. Sniffling, sneezing, coughing, sore throat, blechy stomach feeling. Just dosed up on some Nyquil, so I figured what better way to wait out the impending incoherence than to blog? :)

Here's my mood for today:

I did prepare some blogworthy items for your viewing pleasure today though! Like, for instance, this handy-dandy kitchen knife holder! Who would put this in their kitchen? Marilyn Manson? Bleh!

And here's a little news blurb for you: College to Mix Students and Beer Uhm... yeah. Like they didn't already mix students and beer. Imagine telling your parents that you won a full scholarship to the Labatt Beer Institute. Speaking of, how exactly WOULD you get a full scholarship to this college? Beer bong relays? Keg rolling contests? 40oz arm curls?

I might make use of this sick time to sneak out and see a movie tomorrow if I'm feeling human. Right now I've relegated myself to writing code from the couch and watching old Elvis movies. I think it's "Blue Hawaii" now. Earlier it was "Fun in Acapulco". Everyone's got to have SOME cheesy guilty pleasure, hahaha!

Unkymoods

Check this out: Unkymoods. You can put an image of your "mood" for the day into your blog. Pretty sweet.

Today I'm:

Bill Gates - Good Knight.

Hey, 33 days now and I still haven't seen "Million Dollar Baby". Will I ever? Considering I'm unpacking tonight and have band practice tomorrow, I'm guessing that this is a big, resounding, "N-O", Alex. ;-) FYI, I'm just being a brat, I know I'll probably get to see it this weekend. But but but.... this Friday starts ANOTHER movie I want to see really bad!

Vin Diesel as Navy Seal gone babysitter. Amusing at least.

Aaaaaanyways. Here's an interesting tidbit. Bill Gates just got knighthood from the Queen of England. He isn't "Sir Bill Gates" because he's American. But he does have the KBE title at the end of his name now. Weird. By the way, KBE stands for "Knight Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire".

Why is he a knight? Because he makes software that we HAVE to use? Because he's the richest man in the free world? Because he's bought up any innovative competition rather than invent it himself? Oh well.... I shouldn't rant since I'm working on my MCSD and using Windows XP Pro and doing .NET development right now. *laughing*. Heck. I've sold out.

Million Dollar Baby Countdown

It has been 32 days since "Million Dollar Baby" was released in Tulsa. I still have not seen it. Thought I'd start a count of how many more days until I finally get out to actually SEE this flick!

Oh by the way, some guy is proposing that theaters give up TWO start times instead of just the one. The first start time would be for when the stupid 8 million commercials and trailers start, and the second start time is for when the actual movie starts. Hear hear. Gone are the days where there were 7 minutes of trailers and that was IT. Heck, a single trailer runs 7 minutes now. Here's the link if you didn't catch that it was embedded in the paragraph (*snickers*) LINK!

Ultimate Fighter TV

I FINALLY got to catch my first episode of The Ultimate Fighter reality show last night. Now THIS is a reality show. None of that sissy wussy "she ate my peanut butter and it made me upset" crap. This is some good stuff. It's elimination-style to see who's going to end up becoming "The Ultimate Fighter". There's a fight every week in the octagon, and so far Liddell's team has been wiping up Couture's team. But last night, Couture's team finally got one in and beat Bobby from Liddell's team. Here's a pic of the fighters:

Also thought I'd share Chuck's "Dr. Seuss of Blogging". Mind you, this was after a pitcher of Italian Margaritas. Heh heh.

"I would not read your blog.
I would not read it in a fog.

I would not read it on a clear day.
I would not read it anyway!"

says he comes here to read this blog. :)
