My Albums of the Year

What album did you find yourself gravitating towards this year the most? For me, I think there were two or three that were absolutely indisposable and took up permanent residence in my 6-disc changer in the Aztek.

1. Gwen Stefani - Love Angel Music Baby

2. Casting Crowns - Casting Crowns

3. Chris Tomlin - Arriving

The Gwen CD had to grow on me. I thought some of the tracks were dorky/dumb the first few times I heard the album. Then after wash/rinse/repeat while I left it running at work a few times, it really became one of my fave albums this year. It shows that an artist who goes out and makes an album that SHE wants to make, can make it be a hit too. So many times when an artist strikes out to do "what they want", it ends up sounding blech.

Casting Crowns and Chris Tomlin were my other two favorites this year. I found myself much closer to God this year, and my music choices seem to reflect that as well. I'm just wishing we could get a new one out of Chris Tomlin, his songs have become practically staples for praise & worship services all over the place. These three albums I could probably run 24x7 and not get tired of them.

Your turn - 3 fave songs or 3 fave albums for 2005?

Right now mine is 3 CD's "BEST OF DISCO" and in a teeny tony font at the bottom "Performed by The Countdown Mix Masters". I failed to notice the credits as I was running to get out of Wal-Mart in Atoka.

I don't even bother with whole CD's since I got my iPod. I just get on iTuners and buy them on an individual basis. There is this one CD I got recently. It's kind of a local thing. There's a CT radio station called WCCC that has bands that come through the area do some accustic stuff, and they released it on CD. All the proceeds go to charity, so...

I don't buy CD's anymore either since I got my iPod, but I do buy the whole thing for artists that I actually like. For $9.99 it's worth it.

I do end up listening to all of the snippets first though, to make sure they don't all stink, heh heh. :)

Third Day's new one is quite good. As was Wire the release before this from them.

That's a tough one. I have quite a range, so I enjoyed Foo Fighters' "In Your Honor". I'm a big Sara Groves fan, so "Other Side of Something" was played quite a bit (asking for her new one, and Third Day's new one for Christmas). All of her music helped me through my "rebuilding year". Also, for some reason, I listened to a lot of U2 this year. I really haven't purchased many full albums this year, I usually just pick up a track or two from iTunes when I hear something I like. Of course, my Third Day, Newsboys, David Crowder Band, and Ten Shekel Shirt ("Much") music is never far from my playlist.

I went ahead and downloaded the Narnia score CD, and it is excellent. I also like Alanis' song on it, the one that was played during the credits.

What is this Alanis track you speak of? It's not on that "music inspired by" Narnia CD that I have.... is it an extra track on the "Original Score" CD?

I'm furiously looking for the original score CD as well, I'd LOVE to have that, and even better if it's got an Alanis track on there! Where, where? :)

I got it off of iTunes, here. The Alanis track is 'Wunderkind'. Unfortunately, it's album only. I went ahead and bought the whole album, I liked the score quite a bit.

Thanks SO much for the link! I'm downloading the album right now, heh heh.

Now, for other questions, how the heck did you link me directly into iTunes like that so I could just click "Buy"? That rocks!!

Hehe! No problem. You can make the links to albums in iTunes Music Store by ctrl+clicking (right-clicking in Windows?) on the album title (the one next to the album art). You can create links to songs, artists, albums, iMixes, etc.
