Tulsa Drillers

Went to the Drillers game last night vs San Antonio. Was a blast just hanging out in the bleachers and gorging on as much junk food as I could possibly stuff without exploding. That included the polish dog, nachos, ice cream, peanuts, and Killians, heh heh. They lost 3-2 but it was still a lot of fun. I'd forgotten how much fun actually -- it's been a few years since I caught a Drillers game.

This weekend looks like Cronie's on Saturday outside. Hope it doesn't rain. I haven't played there in over a year, I'm curious to see what it's like now. At least the stage is huge, makes for a pretty fun time.

Been working on the Bells, Renaissance Faire, and Branson pics some, but alas, work ensues, so I've got to prep for my Friday afternoon grilling. Meanwhile, check out this headline:

Hiker uses martial arts to fight off grizzly bear
May 30, 2005 (CP)

Luckily, the bear didn’t have his black belt.

An Alberta man on a Bible retreat successfully used his Brazilian martial arts training on the weekend to fend off a charging grizzly.

Lyle Simpson was hiking through the bush with friends west of Calgary on Saturday when the bruin started chasing him, he said.

“It just burst out of the bush, charging right away. There wasn’t much time to think,” said Simpson, 32, who added there was a cub nearby.

The hikers quickly ran in different directions, but as Simpson was trying to escape, he tripped and landed on his back.

“I put my arm up as the bear was coming on down towards me. The bear tried to bite my arm.”

That’s when Simpson’s training instincts took over and he kicked the bear in the face.

“I think I stunned it just enough. I really think it saved me from a mauling.”

The friends quickly re-grouped and made the 15-minute trek back to Whispering Pines Bible camp.

Simpson needed six stitches to close the wound from the bear’s bite and has a painful gash on his hip.

“My shorts look like they’ve been cut with scissors.,” he said.

Venetian Shrimp & Scallops

Memorial Day weekend was AWESOME, tons to blog, but it'll have to wait until the weekend when I have some time to choose and size photos from our trip.

In the meantime, here's the dinner I made the other night -- yes, I lost a bet (dang Carrie Underwear winning American Idol, BO was supposed to win!) Aaaaanyways, it turned out fabulous! Here's a picture of my plate before we dove in: Venetian Shrimp & Scallops. It's a little different from the original recipe because I thought it'd be delicious over fettucine noodles, so I improvised a bit. :)

Also, if you're around a Krispy Kreme tomorrow, it's National Doughnut Day (like our country needs any excuse to indulge). Krispy Kreme's giving away a free doughnut of your choice! 11 grams of fat in an original, that's all I've got to say *wince*.
