Quorn

You know I'm too busy when I haven't blogged all week. For shame. And to answer the pressing question that I know is on everyone's mind, no, I haven't seen "it" yet. But I know how to get "it". Just haven't watched "it" yet :)

Chuck made this stuff last week. It was actually more than edible, it was pretty yummy! Tastes like chicken. Doesn't everything? (almost, LOL).

Memorial Day Weekend is up in the air -- not sure where to go yet, but I think we're 99% sure it's a camping weekend. The weather's not behaving this week, which might mean bad hiking trails for the weekend. Grr.

Renaissance Faire Weekend

It was a pretty fun weekend, we played The Scene on Friday night. The usual suspects. Yada yada. I was pretty wiped out after the week's events, seeing as how I went out almost every night last week -- totally unlike me. I slept until almost noon on Saturday morning and then Chuck and I hit the Renaissance Faire at The Castle in Muskogee.

The Ren Fair was SO fun! We ate like pigs, and since we were sharing everything, it wasn't too bad. I think we ate a turkey leg, a funnel cake, corn on the cob, some elk bites, a few Killian's, and some honey roasted almonds. The bird of prey exhibition was fantastic -- the photos are GREAT! The jousting was also a blast, pretty fun to see guys get whacked off their horses, even if it is a little bit stagey.

I was surprised to see how large the Ren Fair has become -- I haven't been in the past few years, and to see it this year and how everything's developed...wow. Shoutouts to Ed & Diane, it was great to see you both again (and in costume no less, ROCK!)

I promise pics but first I have to get them off someone's camera *hint-hint*. Soon as he gives 'em up I'll publish 'em! :D Hang tight and have a good week!

Bells Rocked!

Okay, we had TOTAL fun at our private Bells Amusement Park photo shoot last night! We even got to ride rides, with just the band on 'em! All except for the Zingo because there was nobody there to man the handbrake (yes, it still uses a manual handbrake -- eep!) so we didn't wanna risk it.

Something cool we did do though was the band climbed up to the top of the Zingo above the Pepsi sign and took a photo from up there. I'm tellin' ya -- in gig boots with heels, and climbing an incline like that as just a steep slope with wooden pegs for footholds and a BIG BIG gap that you could fall through with one misstep, it was pretty scary. I'm not afraid of heights but that one did get me a little sweaty by the time I'd reached the top. Coming down was surprisingly a lot easier, because the worst that could happen (not counting falling through the big gap and dying) is that you'd slide on your butt a few pegs.

SO much fun though -- we took pics in Phantasmagoria (and I got to be a preteen and ride it in the dark and scream, LOL), the carousel, bumper cars, Himalaya, go-carts, and the newest ride, "Mind Melt". THAT was pretty scary -- one of those totally fun drop rides. We got to ride all of those and in general just horsed around the park like we owned the place.

I want to thank Robbie Bell especially for letting us go out there and do our band promo shots in a closed, private park session. What a treat!

Busy day today @ work recovering from our power outage, ugh. And our bandwidth is TERRIBLE! I'm trying to find the bottleneck. BTW, SMiRK is playing tonight at Fishbonz, people -- get out there and support 'em!

Look Out, Bells!

Dynamo Hum's taking over the park tonight -- Bells Amusement Park -- for an exclusive photo shoot! Bells is closed this evening and Dynamo's gonna have two photographers onhand to witness the action. All I was told was, "I hope you're not afraid of heights." which leads me to believe we'll be swinging from the Zingo rafters I'm thinking. SWEET!

Tuesday

Same old same old. Work's keeping me busier than I'd like. I missed the Renaissance Faire in Muskogee last Saturday but hope to try for this Saturday afternoon instead. Another gig coming up at The Scene again this Friday as well. I'm looking forward to a few weeks off (from gigs) just so I can enjoy some weekends without the gnawing "you gotta gig tonight" in the back of my head.

I'm up to my neck in Excel reports -- NOT my favorite thing in the world to be working on. But they're financials, so it's the best way to chart (speed/efficiency-wise) so far that I've tried. I really wanted to do my charts with ASP.NET and .NET Charting tools but haven't had the time to really play with it.

Chuck and I went bowling on Sunday night -- that was a different and fun thing to do to get outta the house. I still stink but at least I break 100 these days *snicker*. Incredible Pizza's on the list for a fun/goofy date night I think... go-carts, mini golf, arcade, etc.

I still haven't been to the aquarium, so that's on the list too. Now if I could just allocate one extra day off a week I might actually start having some extra fun :)

Blogger and Powweb

Between the two, I don't know who sucks worse. I blogged on Monday and only today was I able to get the blog to publish. Freaking Blogger only works if you put an ip address in the publish part, instead of a hostname. Freaking Powweb decided to change ip addresses for their stupid server and not tell anyone. Shari wonders why she can't blog for three days straight. BLECH!

Had to go through the stupid reverse ip lookup again, put the new ip addy in the configuration, and now we can publish. *growl growl* If Blogger would just fix their stupid dn resolution, we wouldn't HAVE this problem. I wouldn't pay for Blogger's service at this point unless they really fixed a bunch of bugs.

Aah that felt good. In other news, I've done pretty much nothing but work all week. In the evenings too. And I can't stop sneezing this morning. And between band prac tonight, going to visit another band tomorrow night, and housecleaning Friday night.....no end in sight. bah. (hmm... wonder if I should move the "rant" tag lower?)

In other OTHER news, check this out: Brain-Damaged Firefighter Perks Up Pretty cool stuff!

Muuuuundane... I Mean Monday

Great weekend gig-wise, Suede could not have been more packed I don't think. I think we broke the record at The Scene as well on Saturday night, so it was pretty awesome. After two days of jumping around in smoke-filled clubs though, it was all I could think about to get home at 3am early Sunday morning and take every article of clothing and toss it in the clothes washer immediately. Then I proceeded to toss myself in the human washer and get the stink off me too, hahaha :) Only after that (and a little bit of chili and rice) could I hit the sack and call it a night.

Sunday morning came WAY too early and this girl had little voice and every muscle aching... I was a bad girl and missed church yesterday. I did manage to sleep most of the day though, and was even ready to pass out again around 11:30pm. MAN I don't remember gigs taking this much out of me back when I was a puppy!

On the newsfront, my old house finally sold, closing was on Friday, thank God. It wasn't as much as I needed by the time all the bills at closing came around, but at least it got me a lot of the way down the path. After all the grief I went through getting it sold, I did splurge on a Sony PSP, but I got that by trading in my old GBA and a TON of ancient games, so it didn't affect my bottom line any.

And I've hardly gotten to play the PSP so far! Probably only about three hours since I bought it. At my last doc's appointment for my staph infection I had to wait over an hour and a half to be seen, so Tony Hawk's Underground Remix 2 and Lumines got some mileage while I waited. And while watching RockyIV and V on the couch yesterday (hey, it was on TNT and I was too lazy to pick up the remote) I managed to play "Untold Legends" (a Diablo-style hack 'n slash) for a little bit.

Long typical week ahead...maybe I'll get some housecleaning in and hit Guts on Wednesday evening.
