Case of the Mondays

"Office Space" reference, if you're wondering about the title. Definitely a "must see" for all us cube geeks. Speaking of movies, of course the Oscars were on last night. I didn't watch them. I slept. My body has been rebelling against my brain lately and just shuts down whenever it wants to now. Guess I've been doing too much. (! ha !)

Still wanting to see "Million Dollar Baby". Wanted to see it when it first opened in Tulsa on Jan. 28th, but we all know what's been up, so it hasn't been a priority. Maybe this week I can sneak out to catch the flick. Glad it won as many awards as it did. Great cast.

It's snowing outside, big 'ol flakes. And I'm stuck inside working. Today's definitely one of those days I'd rather be working from home so I can watch the big flakes out my window. The whole upper floor of the loft is almost all windows on the north side.

Sidelines was PACKED last Saturday night, tons of fun. People danced from song one, on through the rest of the night. Our new bass player, Chad, got up and played a few songs with us. Trial by fire, no rehearsals, kinda like me :) Chad's a really nice guy and will be a great addition to the band. Make sure you drop by and welcome him when you come out to the next gig! Speaking of gigs, I'm off for the next two weekends, we'll be adding a bunch of "girl songs" for me, so it should be pretty fun when we gig at Suede on the 18th.

Have a great week everyone!

Thought to Ponder #1

The thought to ponder for this weekend:

Why didn't Noah swat those two mosquitoes?

Weeeeeekend Plans?

Dang, missed a blog entry yesterday! Had band practice with Dynamo Hum and then ended up going out to see my pals, Dennis, Mel, Jimmy, and the gang, for a bit at the ER (That's Elephant Run).

This weekend, what's on tap? Think I may be off to see Ocean's Twelve tonight. Perhaps more of the kicking of the rear for DoA2 (Sigh. I really suck at that game.) But hey, I'm an RPG girl, so what'd ya expect? ;-)

I noticed Channel 6 talked about Numa Numa Boy on "6 in the Morning" this morning. Too funny. Or not. Considering the fact that I was still curled up in bed and the TV started blasting the Numa Numa song. His face full screen on 32" was a sight to behold indeed. They even did some background info on him, saying he was sent the O-Zone cd from family in Romania and he taped himself to send back to them.

How these things become phenomena is what I want to know. I mean it's funny, yes. But why? What makes it funny? What sets something over the edge to become a "you gotta see this" that everyone emails out to friends? If you could harness the power of that viral marketing concept, and be able to duplicate it repeatedly. Or even once. What would you do with it? What would you say?

Ok, that was way too heavy for a Friday afternoon, eww. Let's kick back and have some good food, brought to you by our friends at Ebaum's World!

Oh and I almost forgot. Come on out and shake your boo-tay at Sidelines this Saturday night! Yours truly will be! :) Show starts 9:30pm!

Cox w00t!

Cable installed yesterday. Of course we had to play bandwidth bingo and see who got the faster connection. Supposedly 4mbps. Yum. And with expanded basic, I shall no longer sleep (not like I did anyway).

Crashed around 10pm last night, woke up around 11:30pm. Then of course had to watch tv, so The Osbournes kept me well entertained until THIS came about around 1:00am...

I was working on my TabletPC, but geez what a stupid thing for me to have gotten caught up watching. Must repent now. :)

Think I'm going to trade in the last few XBox games I have and pick up GTA:San Andreas. It's been all over the news lately, so I may as well see what people are howling all about.

What else what else what else, let's see. OH! I thought this was pretty cool. The guitarist for Korn finds God and leaves the band. Here's the link. Other than that, still moving moving moving, unpacking, working until I literally crash at the drop of a hat, and learning new songs for Dynamo Hum practice tomorrow night. Oh yeah, new pics from this weekend are up on the Dynamo Hum site. Here's one of my faves. This Saturday, Voodoo Crush is playing at Elephant Run, go check 'em out, they're a great band and friends of mine as well.

The Web is Weird.

I was idly surfing this morning before I had to get busy with a bunch of tech problems, and came across this gem: Bizarre India Safety Posters!

Apparently there's even a whole book about it. Weird. "An Ideal Boy"

So anyway, the Numa Numa boy. This is a kid from New Jersey who decided he'd be all cool and lip sync to an obscure Romanian boy band named O-Zone. I mean, really. Do these people ever THINK before turning on these cams? Hilarity ensues. Here's the link: NUMA NUMA BOY!

Oh and by the way...

DO NOT LIVE IN SHAKY HOUSE!!!!!

I'm out.

Moving Bytes

And no I don't mean passing around bits of data. Moved into the new townhouse this weekend. I *LOVE* the new townhouse. I *HATE* moving into it. I've managed to shred both calf muscles by carrying heavy book boxes up and down endless stairs getting to the loft.

BUT! The loft is amazing. At night from the couch there is a beautiful view of the lights and skyline of downtown Tulsa. And the place is SO quiet. In the afternoon all you hear are birds. Last night there was a thunderstorm so I left the blinds to my balcony open and watched the lightning over downtown Tulsa. I remember waking up and seeing the moon up in the sky a few hours later. Definitely a fantastic, relaxing place to be.

Making the formal dining area into a reading alcove, coding spot complete with bookshelves, Tulsa skyline view, and papa san chair. Purr. Played Dead or Alive 2 last night. Got my backside handed to me. Note to self: Look up combos today. Must practice. Revenge is coming. Craven needs to prepare for the Wrath of The Tekchic.

Had a great weekend -- Shannon I'm glad I got to see you finally! The band was a blast, I'm now officially "in" Dynamo Hum and having fun. Suede was off the hook crowded....man those people are fun! The Scene had a great crowd as well, wow! Was great to see Shannon and Glenn and the rest of the gang out there. My wonderful Az ran outta gas after the gig... GRR need to get an oil change on that beast :)

Missed church yesterday because of moving fun. Planning on Wednesday night 7pm. Will know more as the week progresses, but I miss it so I need to go. Still doing nightly devotionals, but now we'll be able to do them from the awesome balcony with some chairs and a beautiful stone water fountain (like the one in the link but not quite).

Everyone have a good week, keep those faces lit up with smiles, and stay tuned for the Numa Numa dance!

Rolls

Picked up a Rolls Headphone Amp last night since mine has so mysteriously gone missing. At least I got the newer model one now, with the 1/4" and 1/8" jacks instead of 2 1/4" jacks. Also looks like they've done some work on them, have ground lift, etc. now. Ran into a pal that works at the new Guitar Center in Tulsa now too.

The bandwidth at work's been lagging...slow slow slow. I need to do a trace and see who's hogging my bandwidth cause it's not me! :) 210kbps is nuts for a corporate environment. Makes me want to connect to the neighbor's wireless and see if they have more throughput, heh heh. Oh wait... I didn't say that.

I've got today and tomorrow to work on the Dynamo Hum tunes, put them into set lists on my iPod so I can immerse. Should be a blast tomorrow night though, Suede is a slammin' club. Will be packed to the gills.

Guts

Who's going with me to Guts tonight? James and Wayne, I'm gonna call ya tonight! 7pm. I need to be there, doing the live video feed 6pm Sunday night was good, but not enough.

I was glad to get sleep on Monday night because I sure didn't get it last night. Darn slow-moving inventory report. Not to mention I had to call in for backup because my brain shut down. But the report shipped this morning, and *fingers crossed* I think it's even more correct than my original one was..... harrumph. :)

Aaaaaanyways... busy week, moving. Moving sucks. Suck. Sucketh. HATE moving. Anyone wanna come help? *grins evilly* You never know how much stuff you've collected until it's time to move it all.....daaaaaaang. Time to do some MAJOR culling of the herd of books that I've collected over the years... I mean, come ON -- do I *really* need an OS/2 Warp manual and an M$ DOS 6.0 command reference?

Hummer, Anyone?

Looks like I'll be gigging with Dynamo Hum this weekend! The show Saturday night was a blast, the crowd was rocking, and the girls had gone wild (if you know what I mean). All in all an awesome time was had by everyone. This weekend it'll be Suede Ultra Lounge on Friday and The Scene on Saturday. Come on out and dance yer tail off! Knowing Suede it will be ultra-packed, so get there early if you wanna snag a couch spot.

Dinner last night was fantastic. We've already gone over how spoiled Shari is, so I won't go into details. Suffice to say I was treated to a quiet home-cooked-from-scratch dinner of butternut squash soup, fresh mixed greens with homemade bacon vinaigrette, bacon-wrapped grilled scallops, lobster tail, and snow crab clusters. Oh. Yeah. And I was asleep by 10pm, lol! I'm learning to sleep again these days it seems. I'd forgotten how nice that whole sleep thing is.

Will post links to pics from the Elephant Run Dynamo Hum gig when they're live.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Cause I forgot to say it earlier.

And by the way, check out this link of a Volkswagen - Singin' in the Rain commercial. WOW.

And ya GOTTA see this one of Mule vs Mountain Lion. That's one mule I'd be a little scared to cross.

Whew Full Weekend!

Glad to be back at work almost, talk about a busy busy weekend (again)!

Friday over lunch I went to Body Mods to get them to put my original nose stud back in. He started to and said, "Nope, this'll need to be a repierce, the inside's closed already. Come back in three weeks and it'll be $30 with the original jewelry to redo it." Oh haaaaaaelll no, I'm not going to let it HEAL up and then poke a hole in it all over again, uh-UH. So, disappointed, I leave.

The concert Friday night was awesome. The crowd was wonderful, Casting Crowns and Chris Tomlin were beyond great, and Steven Curtis Chapman was enjoyable as well. Spent most of the concert on my feet, and singing.

After the concert, I get wild hair. Repierce my nose myself! So I pick up anbesol, a needle of the same gauge as my nose stud, and bravery in liquid form. Luckily probably 90% of the hole was still open, it was just the tiny little bit at the end that needed repiercing. So I numbed it, took a deep breath, and just did it. It was a little bit of a pain to get the original nose stud back in but all is well. With sea salt soaks and tea tree oil the last two days it's been absolutely fine. Doesn't hurt one bit, and not inflammed or infected at all. Stud is back to looking cute on my nose again :)

Saturday I went to Gilcrease Museum and saw the Indian blanket display as well as the rest of the museum. Didn't get to spend a WHOLE lot of time out there because I had so much to do, but I still saw most of the museum, got to gaze in wonder at the beauty of Thomas Moran's work, and look at the Remingtons, and even find a few new artists to admire such as Albert Jacob Miller. Saturday night it was off to jam with Dynamo Hum. Total fun and entertainment!

Worn out Sunday, I mostly wrote code, watched Guts Live at 6pm, and then hit Steak 'n Shake for the first time. YUM! Oh yeah, and I had a typical Hawaiian breakfast -- spam, eggs, and rice. Purr.

Bad Nose! Bad Nose!

My stupid nose stud fell out when I was sleeping last night! *shrieks in frustration* I tried to put it back in this morning and couldn't get it to come through the other side. That's what I get for trying to use the sexy, cute little diamond ones too early I guess. I was SO tired of the uncomfortable "L" stud, but I suppose that's why they use them -- they don't fall out like the straight nose-studs do.

Sooooooo. I get to go over to Body Modifications at 61st and Sheridan over lunch and get it repierced...or at least put the old L one back in, although I don't know how they're going to do that w/o repiercing. It's going to hurt... *whine* . So why do it, you might ask? Because it looks so darned cute! :D

The Fuji dinner last night was INCREDIBLE. Definitely not for the faint of heart (for you squeamish seafood wussies). Started with amazing hama hama oysters, then clam soup with vegetables, then seared tuna slices with salad, then tempura uni (sea urchin), then grilled teriyaki salmon and asparagus, then king crab maki sushi, then dessert was ice cream with baked fruits (hot!) like blueberries, raspberries, cherries, etc. QUITE an incredible dinner -- probably the best dinner I've ever had. It was Chef Nobu, but not THE Chef Nobu, lol.

What's New?

Crazy, insane week here. Went to the Ash Wednesday service last night at Asbury United Methodist. Very traditional, but nice. Looking forward to Guts on Sunday though. Tonight's the night! Sushi and Sake private dinner with Chef ? from Fuji Restaurant. Very exclusive, reservations only seven course sushi/sake dinner.

while (tekchic == "spoiled") {
     sushi++;
     sake++;
}

Work's been nuts. Of course. But it's a fun kind of nuts. Yeah that's it. Also been compiling a list of "chick rock" type songs. Entertaining an entertaining idea. Going to Gilcrease Museum this Saturday because I've never been there, should be fun. It's wonderful being able to LIVE again...to enrich my life, be balanced, work on being a "whole" person rather than the sum of disjointed parts. But alas I wax.

New townhouse comin up soon. Will post pics for kicks when I have em, but it'll be a few weeks.

Baby's Got Book

Thanks to MM in Houston for this one..... I laughed so hard it was the final straw for my coworkers to order my straitjacket probably. It's a rap video done to "Baby's Got Back" but it's "Baby's Got Book" and talks about a girl's Bible. Totally clean fun.....hilarious though, geez!

Baby's Got Book <-- click on the "Baby's Got Book" link when that page pops up.

Enjoy!

Fun Weekend

I must say, it was great seein ya Friday for dinner, Sticks! Yer not getting any shorter, dang! But yer looking great as always. Keep climbin. And as for J, M&M, you guys are the best....enjoy that gorgeous house and no more rolling down the hill!

I got to do the smackdown on some air hockey at Gameworks....that was fun :) And got said smackdown returned to me when it came to racing games. Bah. I'm a chick, nobody said I could drive. *snorts laughing*

Fuji still holds my sushi love, but Sushi Sake restaurant definitely is the runner up. And I actually got 9 hours of sleep. In a row. In one night. That's gotta be some kinda record.

Going thru the Big D

And I *do* mean Dallas. Spending this weekend hanging out in Texas with friends, somewhere out on Grapevine Lake. :)

I hear Grapevine Mills has an ice skating rink now! I'm definitely bringing skates so I can check that out. I love that mall because of the weird way it's laid out. It's basically a full mile if you go all the way around it in a loop. Then there's the Rainforest Cafe -- fun restaurant, great atmosphere. And the Virgin Records megastore (purr). And again, we must not leave out GAMEWORKS!

Other than that I'm thinking a little foray down into Deep Ellum, and *maybe* hitting Sushi Sake if time allows (and I can find it again). Sushi Sake's over by where I used to visit when I was working for ADS. I think I ate there every day of my business trip...YUM.

Started playing Champions of Norrath last night, but was so exhausted I only got to the part where I take the lift down to Feydark (in other words pretty much the first 20 minutes of the game). Very Diablo2-ish. Definitely decent hack/slash. Speaking of hack, going to work on dot hack Infection when I'm not hack/slashing in CoN. Now I'm seeing that I should've gotten a PS2 a LONG time ago instead of an XBox. Oh well.

Ebaum's World

Anyone in need of laughter, feel free to surf on over to Ebaum's World. Hard to stifle giggles when you see some of the hilarious video this site serves up. For example, check out the Awful Weatherman. This has gotta be a college tryout for a news station or something because SURELY nobody would really hire this dude!

Guts tonight 7pm. Be there or be L7.

Recent Pics

Here's a pic of me when I went hiking at Redbud Nature Preserve. It was so incredibly beautiful there. We did some hill sprints and then just enjoyed the rocks, bluffs, and the nature trail. I highly recommend checking this place out. Don't laugh at my pic too hard, I was about to crack up when this photo was taken.

Here's one I took from Redbud. Behind me is a bluff and a bat cave (the bats were hibernating), and in front is the little lake, with the water runoff and mossy rocks making a nice little picture. This is from a Bass Pro Shop indoor/outdoor disposable camera so the quality isn't exactly stellar. But you get the picture (ha ha).

Soon as I get a digicam I'll add more pics. I'm kinda liking the idea of photojournaling along with regular blogging.

Hope 7

Picked this band's album up on iTunes just now. Last week the free iTunes song was "Breakthrough" by Hope 7. WAY pop/rock-ish, but loved the sound so I previewed all the songs on their album and liked the sound enough that I went ahead and bought it. It's downloading now... then off to iPod it goes :)

Busy week ahead, one of those weeks that seems like it's Thursday when it's only Tuesday. Something going on every single day and night this week, including lunch appointments every single day. Looking forward to heading south this weekend. GAMEWORKS here I come! Going to try and catch up to some old pals while I'm there too.

Next week is the Steven Curtis Chapman concert w00t! I've been enjoying going to Guts Church also. I think I'll be going to the membership class that's coming up next week.

To the OTHER Shari

I'd like to thank the other person with the same name as me that lives in Oklahoma City for screwing up my credit report. Pay your damn rent you freaking loser! This yahoo didn't pay her rent, an apartment company takes HER to court, but it shows up on MY Equifax credit report. Thanks you stupid bitch! Do you realize how much work on top of what I already have going on I will have to do to clear your asanine idiocy from MY credit? Go work on your own credit, since it apparently SUCKS. Stay off mine! :P
